Bayer's GE Crop Herbicide, Glufosinate, Causes Brain Damage

GM WATCH daily
The glufosinate herbicide, used in large quantities on Bayer's GM
herbicide-resistant crops, has been found to have adverse effects on the brain.

Yoichiro Kuroda, the principal investigator in a project titled the Effects
of Endocrine Disrupters on the Developing Brain, under the government's
CREST (Core Research for Evolutional Science and Technology) program,
believes polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and glufosinate can hamper the
development and activity of the brain.

PCBs are "mock hormones" -- endocrine disrupters that cause neural
development defects by disrupting gene functions and neural-network
formation in kids -- resulting in lower IQ scores and hyperactive
tendencies, he said.

Glufosinate, widely used in the U.S. as a super herbicide for
herbicide-resistant genetically modified crops, is like a "mock
neurotransmitter" that has an aggressive effect on brains, he said.

If an embryo or a baby is exposed to the chemical, it can affect behavior,
as it disturbs gene functions that regulate the developing brain, he said.

A well-respected and popular professor at the University of California in Berkeley has been fired after publishing a scientific paper regarding the uncontrolled contamination of irreplaceable native Mexican corn varieties by genetically engineered corn. Dr. Ignacio Chapela, whose corn contamination article was published in the science journal "Nature," was denied his tenure due to pressure from the biotech company Monsanto on the University (the UC Berkeley tenure review panel had actually voted almost unanimously to approve his tenure). Professor Chapela has been told to have his office cleaned out by December 31. Sign a petition to demand a review of Dr. Chapela's tenure denial.

A Glimpse Into Amandha

Prepared for Amandha
born August 5, 1974

DAY-SIGN: 13-Wind
YEAR: West -1
13-DAY PERIOD: 1-Dog
VENUS PHASE: Morning Star

Introduction: The Astrology of Time

The ancient Maya and Aztec astrologers studied the mysterious influence of the rhythms of the sky on earthly life. Everyone knows the Sun rises and sets every day -- this is the basic rhythm of life around which we set our clocks and calendars. What the ancient astrologers discovered was that other time cycles existed that were multiples of this basic day cycle. This fact was discovered about 100 years ago in Europe and these cycles (there are many of them) are now called biorhythms.

The most important time cycles in ancient Mayan and Aztec astrology are those of the day, 9-days, 13-days, and 20-days. Additionally, years are counted also, in groups of 4 and 13. Each day is then part of several other cycles, so no two days are exactly the same. Your Maya/Aztec horoscope shows exactly where in each of the cycles you were born. Each category deals with a specific cycle and a specific aspect of your personality. Keep in mind that our personalities are complex and contain many contradictions. All of us present a different "face" depending on who we meet. The delineations below will reflect this, but they will also give you a clear picture of who you really are. The true value of astrology lies in self-knowledge, the first step to wisdom.

Most Personal Traits

This describes who you are and how you appear to others, at least on the surface. In Aztec astrology this part of is your horoscope is your Tonalli, or Day-Sign, the form bestowed upon you by the Sun.

WindWind: You have an unusually active mind. You are constantly thinking and this often intrudes upon any awareness of the intense emotional realities occurring within and around you. To others, you seem very much alive and alert. To yourself, you frequently feel confused and uncertain as to what information you should act on. Learning, speaking, reading, and other forms of mental communication appeal to you and you may have tried your hand at writing in one form or another. Others usually find conversations with you interesting and stimulating.
Most likely, you have more than one major interest or profession. Because your mind is capable of grasping the similarities between seemingly different activities, you move from one to another with relative ease. One problem you may have is in knowing both when and how to focus and thereby not spreading yourself out too much. Music and the arts are of particular interest to you.
You tend to be very sensitive to the way things around you appear visually, including your own appearance. You have strong aesthetic sensibilities and strive to create art, dress fashionably or decorate your home. Because you are so versatile, you often combine styles or mix fashions and are regarded by others as eclectic in your taste.

Your Deeper Self -- The 13-Day Week of Your Birth

Each of us reacts to the world around us in different ways. Our reactions are mostly unconscious; they represent what our deeper self needs. Our reactions both attract and repel us from things, people, and situations. What we like, what we like to do, and who we really are is shown by the 13-day week called the Trecena that we were born under. Each of these periods begins with the number 1 and the name of the day-sign that starts it. A number is attached to your position within the 13-day period that may be an important number for you.

This is the thirteenth day of the week beginning with 1-Dog. Beneath your surface personality you are a person who is consistent in belief and very loyal. You will continue with a program or activity for years and can be an inspiration to others -- but you can also be extremely stubborn. No matter how unconventional your lifestyle, once committed to it, you are there for life. You do tend to be a joiner of groups and you often find strength through your identification with others who, collectively, have more power than you do.

I am a number 7 (by adding my birthdate)

A Life Path 7 person is a peaceful and affectionate soul, and by nature
rather reserved and analytical. The overwhelming strength of the number
7 is reflected in the depth of thinking that is shown; you will garner
knowledge from practically every source that you find. Intellectual,
scientific and studious, you don't accept a premise until you have
dissected the subject and arrived at you own independent conclusion.
This is a very spiritual number and it often denotes a sort of
spiritual wisdom that becomes apparent at a fairly early age. You need
a good deal of quiet time to be with your own inner thoughts and
dreams. You dislike crowds, noise and confusion. You are very thorough
and complete in your work, the perfectionist who expects everyone else
to be a meet a high standard of performance, too. You evaluate
situations very quickly and with amazing accuracy. You rely heavily on
your experiences and your intuition, rather than accepting advice from
someone; your hunches usually prove to be very accurate, and knowing
this, you are one who tends to follow the directions they seem to
guide. It's easy for you to detect deception and recognize insincere
people. You aren't one to have a wide circle of friends, but once you
accept someone as a friend, it's for life. You really aren't a very
social person, and your reserve is often taken to be aloofness.
Actually, it's not that at all, but merely a cover up for your basic
feeling of insecurity. You actually like being alone, away from the
hustle and bustle of modern life. In many ways, you would have fit in
better in much earlier times when the pace of life was less hectic.

I am a number 2 (by adding my full birth name together)

The positive attributes of the number 2 Life Path produces extremely
sensitive people who generally have the most delicate ability to be
balanced and fair. You clearly see the full spectrum of viewpoints in
any argument or situation, and because of this people may seek you out
to be a mediator. In this role you are able to settle disputes with the
most unbiased flair. There is sincere concern for others; you think the
best of people, and want the best for them. You are totally honest and
open in thought, word and deed. You are apt to excel in any for of
group activity where your expertise in handling and blending people can
be used effectively. Manners and tact mark your way with others at all
times, and you are not one to dominate a group or situation. You are
the master of compromise and of maintaining harmony in your
environment, never stooping to aggravate or argue.

In many ways, you are a creature of habit and routine, and you like to
your path and pattern well worn and familiar. A natural collector, you
rarely dispose of anything that may have a shred of value.

A number 2 Expression gives you the tools to work very well with other
people. Your destiny is in the role of the mediator and the peacemaker.
In many ways you are dependent on others and seem to function best in a
partnership or in some form of group activity. Modesty runs deep in
your nature, and you can work comfortably without recognition of your
accomplishments. Often, others get credit for your ideas, and this is
of little real concern to your since you are such a willing team
player. As you grow in this direction, you become sensitive to the
feelings of others, you are ever diplomatic in handling complicated
situations. Cooperative, courteous, and considerate, you have the
capacity to become an outstanding facilitator. You know how to organize
and handle people. You are a good detail person because you rarely
overlook anything. Tactful and friendly, nearly everyone likes you.

The negative 2 personality can be over-sensitive and easily hurt. Too
much of this number in your makeup can make you very shy and uncertain.
Sometimes the excessive 2 energies makes one apathetic and somewhat
indifferent to the job at hand; the ability to handle details is
hampered in these cases.

I am a number 5 (I certainly do imagine what I can accomplish!)

Here's my birth DAY reading:

With a birthday on the 5th of the month you are inclined to work well
with people and enjoy them. You are talented and versatile, very good
at presenting ideas. You may have a tendency to get itchy feet at times
and need change and travel. You tend to be very progressive,
imaginative and adaptable. Your mind is quick, clever and analytical. A
restlessness in your nature may make you a bit impatient and easily
bored with routine. You may have a tendency to shirk responsibility. (yeah, some days)

Now, don't you feel like you know me better?
